Just next to the best seafood place but they offer the good seafood rice as well. When we arrived, they told us that freshly caught sea bass had just been delivered — the perfect chance to try grilled fish at its best. We waited about 30 minutes for a table; it was very busy, but the food was absolutely worth it. We ordered a seafood paella, a grilled sea bass, and a small plate of olives as a snack. The olives were excellent — not overly salty, but with a unique and distinctive flavor. The seafood paella, while perhaps slightly less impressive compared to the one next door, still had its own special taste and was packed with generous, satisfying ingredients. The grilled sea bass was truly fresh and flavorful, and it was quite a large fish. When we asked for extra lemon, they brought out freshly cut slices — everything felt very fresh. At the end, they treated us to a small glass of their homemade liqueur, low in alcohol but pleasantly sweet, which I really enjoyed.

Their Seafood Rice tasted absolutely amazing! It’s soupy, tomato-y, and very comforting especially on a rainy day, highly recommended! The clams were fresh and juicy as well. The octopus was bouncy and nicely seasoned. Ended up paying €30 per person which was definitely good value for the money considering the portion and quality of the food.

We followed the ratings and reviews to this petite restaurant, which we almost missed while walking past. From the moment we arrived, we were warmly welcomed by friendly and attentive staff, who looked after us throughout our visit. The menu is small but well thought out, offering something for everyone. We started with olives and Nisa cheese, which made for a pleasant, simple beginning. For mains, my daughter had the salmon, which was perfectly cooked and served with fresh vegetables, while I chose the chicken paella — a generous and flavourful dish with plenty of tender chicken. Both dishes were delicious and ones we’d happily order again. For dessert, we tried the cheesecake and mango mousse. While enjoyable enough, they appeared to be shop-bought rather than freshly made, and we likely wouldn’t choose them again. Overall, we had a lovely experience. The cosy atmosphere adds to the charm, though if you prefer more space around you while dining, this might not be your ideal setting. Still, for friendly service and tasty, honest food, Taverna Alfacinha is well worth a visit.

Excellent restaurant. Very friendly gentlemen at the door who explained the menu to us while we were waiting for our table. He took the time to explain how each of the fish dishes were made and explained the long history of the restaurant. The cod was delicious and we enjoyed an excellent bottle of white wine. Good service and great value for money. Highly recommend you reserve a table online as the restaurant is small and in high demand!

The host at the door was very friendly and gave us great recommendations. We landed on the Grilled Dourado & Seafood Rice. The fish was cooked well, great texture. While the seafood rice was not lacking in flavour, I wouldn't order it again. Overall, service was great and they gave us a complimentary shot of Ginjinha to end the meal on a sweet note.

What a hidden gem! Cracking authentic Portuguese seafood restaurant. Right in the centre of busy town, but not touristic. Very small space with limited tables and chairs. Every one of them is full, because the food is so good. Highly recommend any of the paella. All of the dishes that everyone was eating looked fantastic. Great service. Friendly staff. Good prices. Good quality food. Highly recommended.

We visited the restaurant without a reservation, but the host, a very polite and friendly young man from Nepal, accommodated us quickly, finding us a table in just 4 minutes! The service overall was excellent—courteous and welcoming. He also helped us choose the wine and the shrimp, and his recommendations were truly spot on! The shrimp we ordered were delicious, the salad was fresh and well-balanced, and the paella, while basic, was tasty. It’s not quite like the ones in Spain, but it’s definitely a good choice. The wine he suggested was absolutely fantastic—one of the highlights of the evening! Overall, a lovely place for a meal that is definitely worth a visit. Well done!

Tiny and cute restaurant with great food and friendly service. We ordered 2 veggie soups, local cheese, bread, muscles appetizer, and whole fish main course. And that was more than enough for two people. Portions were quite big.
